Top 5 Tips for Your Newly Updated iOS 10 Device

Apple’s newest iteration of its mobile platform, iOS 10, is finally here! As iOS users around the world are starting to get notified of this update, many must have already rushed and been updated.

Aside from numerous refinements and enhancements, there are a lot of new things in iOS 10. This update brings several important improvements to how you interact with your iOS device, so it might take some time to get used to the new environment.
To help you make the most out of your freshly updated device, AppsRooster brings you the most useful tricks and tips.

Swipe for Widgets

The first thing you’ll see once you update to iOS is a new Home screen. Many of us are used to swiping right and entering a passcode to unlock a device, even though you can also hold down your button and unlock your device, but only if you use Touch ID. However, swiping right now gets you to a Widgets pane, while swiping left lets you access Camera.

This is a quick way to skim over some important information from several iOS apps, with numerous new widget-friendly apps coming our way.
By default, you should see widgets from apps like Calendar, News, Music, Battery, Reminders, and Siri App Suggestions. If you want to remove some of those, tap on the Edit button and organize your widgets.

Remove Stock Apps

This will be the first thing many of us will do. You no longer have to keep the Stocks app on your phone, or to hide some of Apple’s built-in apps. Simply tap and hold on an icon, and remove the app from your device.
In case you ever need the Stocks app, you can find it on the iOS App Store, along with other apps that come preinstalled.

Open Two Web Pages at Once

Safari has become more powerful and even capable of opening two web pages at the same time. However, it only works on iPads.
If you have multiple tabs open in Safari, you can drag one tab from the Tab bar and pull it towards the right side of the screen. This will automatically trigger the Split View.
You can also open links in the Split View, by holding your finger on a link and choosing “Open in Split View”.

Make Use of Apple’s Maps

Apple’s Maps app is perhaps one of the most underrated apps. However, many people will change their mind about this app after upgrading to iOS 10.

The new Maps app comes with a cleaner interface, it shows traffic information on route and displays alternative routes as well. It also lets you find nearby businesses, like restaurants, supermarkets, or petrol stations.

Try Out New Effects in Messages

There are numerous new effects in the Messages app that you can try out. Simply tap and hold on the send icon after you’ve written a message, and you’ll see the options for Slam, Loud, Gentle, and Invisible Ink.

When you tap and hold to get the new effects to come up, you can also switch from Bubble to Screen, and try out the full-screen effects.

In case you haven’t still upgraded to iOS 10, go to Settings > General > Software Update. The new version of iOS brings numerous helpful features, making your iPhone or iPad even smarter and more capable. Go ahead, you won’t regret it.
