Mini Roco – Leaping Bump Cow Platformer Game
First, let’s talk about the visual style. As it can be seen from the photos, you won’t be blown away by Mini Roco’s graphics. However, it does present a nice combination of simplicity and a cartoon-like art style. It actually goes well with the relaxed gameplay it offers, but more about that later.
This game is made of simple geometric shapes that are filled with colors and textures. What I would have liked to see is a bit of shading, since this could be an easy way to add some depth to the game.
Either way, the background is very vivid and cheerful, while numerous details are nicely illustrated.
Now, let’s talk about the gameplay. The first few levels are very easy, and they serve to introduce you to the game. Sadly, there’s no tutorial or anything similar, which I think would greatly help you understand the game’s controls right from the start. This way, you will have to experiment and test different combinations to see how the main character moves and interacts with objects.
Your main job in the game is to help the character collect (or eat) grass, while trying to stay away from lava, spikes, and other dangers. It is completely up to you how to play the game. You can choose a more relaxed way, by moving the character slowly and closely inspecting the obstacles, or you can try to rush as fast as you can.
Either way, certain portions of levels are action-filled and there’s no way to avoid that. You can roll, balance, jump and bounce as you go forward, so there is a lot of diversity. You get unlimited lives, so you can really go for some crazy stunts.
I would also like to talk about the game’s controls. As you can see from the images in this article, there are three buttons on the screen. The left-positioned ones are made to move the character, left and right. The right-positioned button will make the character jump. That’s it when it comes to the controls.
However, if you take a look at the game’s settings menu, you will see that the tilt mode can be activated. This way, you control Roco by moving/tilting your device, which actually works much better than the default controls.
Mini Roco can be downloaded for free, but it comes with in-app purchase options. These purchase options are not the same for all available platforms, but the one that is in common allows you to get rid of advertisements. The ads can be very annoying at times, which definitely leaves a negative impression.
In case you like cartoon-style runner games, you might find Mini Roco very fun and interesting. My suggestion is to download and try this game, and in case you fall for it, send those couple of dollars to the game’s developer. AppStore Link
