Apple Unveils The iPhone 7, Apple Watch 2, and More!
The iPhone 7 brings a somewhat new design that does not departure from what we already know. It is still slightly curved and comes with a new glossy back, along with new Jet Black color. However, you still get to pick between four well-known colors that are not as glossy. Still, there is a lot that could be said when it comes to the new iPhone internals.
The new iPhones come with a 12-megapixel camera that features optical image stabilization, a larger aperture, six-element lens, and a redesigned quad-LED flash. However, the larger iPhone comes with a second 12-megapixel camera on the back that can provide a much deeper zoom without distorting your photo quality.
What this means is that the new camera app will be enhanced for the iPhone 7 Plus, which will also offer a new “Portrait” mode that features blurred backgrounds. If you are a fan of selfies, you should know that the front-facing camera has been improved and now features the same optical image stabilization as the back-facing camera, along with a 7-megapixel shooter.
The base model of the iPhone 7 now starts with 32GB and is priced at $649, while Apple also offers models with 128GB and 256GB of storage.
The big news is that the iPhone 7 is now waterproof, which implies numerous enhancements to its internals. Perhaps the most notable one is that phone does not include a headphone jack, as rumored during the past months. This means that users will be able to use the new EarPods that use the Lightning connector.
Still, a Lightning dongle can adapt to older devices, which means that you can continue using your existing headphones that come with the 3.5mm connector.
On top of that, Apple is releasing new wireless earbuds that are called AirPods. They rely on a new chip called the W1, which handles both audio and wireless connection. In addition, they feature dual accelerometers that allow you to activate Siri. The AirPods will be priced at $159, and slated to be released in late October.
If you care about the new iPhone performance, you should know that the new A10 Fusion chip is powering the iPhone 7. It is supposedly up to 40% faster than A9 and includes a 6-core GUI unit that is up to 50% faster than the previous iPhone generation. Still, the A10 chip is more power-efficient than ever, managing to offer an extra one to two hours of battery life in comparison to the previous iPhone generation.
Those of you who were waiting for the next generation Apple Watch should know that the company has just unveiled the new models. The Apple Watch Series 2 will be available in aluminum, stainless steel, but will be also available in white ceramic. The Series 2 models will also offer improved battery life, faster processor, and more capable GUI unit. You can preorder it on September 9, where the base model will be priced at $369.
Even though there are speculations that the next-year model will bring more radical changes and improvements, it feels like those who choose to buy the iPhone 7 or the iPhone 7 Plus certainly won’t be disappointed.
